Church History
From alpha to omega
1909
The first religious services were held in Craigmyle in a tent 6 miles southeast of town.
1910
A Methodist student supply minister, Elmer Belknap, holds services in the area.
1914
A manse is built on the site on which this church now stands. For a time, services are held in it.
1915
The manse is moved and the building of the present church begins.
1916
Reverend Ed. Longmire becomes Craigmyle's first ordained Minister.
1918
The church is used as a hospital during the 1918 influenza epidemic.
1918
The Craigmyle Methodist Church is dedicated.
1925
The Methodist, Congregationalist and Presbyterian Churches unite to become The United Church of Canada.
1937
Craigmyle and Delia United Churches join to share a minister.
1960
Vaulted ceilings are lowered and dark wood is painted light.
1961
Wood floors are sanded and refinished, red carpet laid and velvet drapes hung.
1964
Basement put in. Local men dig dirt by hand, pushing out in wheelbarrows; then installing cement block walls.
1982
Two bathrooms are installed.

Exterior repainted and roof reshingled.
1993
Building is declared a registered Historical Resource.
2008
Basement is excavated; south cinder block wall is pulled out and replaced with a wooden one; drainage tile installed around exterior perimeter of church; church exterior repaired and painted.
2019
Siding is replaced on exterior.
